Born in India & brought up by the world, Guru Vasist performs with a group of top-notch New York City musicians for his debut album Rise 8 Times.

The musicians include Bruce Arnold on electric & acoustic guitars, Randy Klein on piano and synthesizers, Leo Traversa on electric & fretless bass, Ben Wittman on drums and percussion, Nitin Mitta on tabla, Jay Leslie on clarinet and tenor saxophone, Vasko Dukovski on clarinet, Elisabeth Lohninger, Melissa Stylianou, and Roshni Basu on background vocals, and Guru Vasist on vocals, guitar, ukulele, and carnatic flute.

Rise 8 Times is produced by Randy Klein and Guru Vasist. It was recorded at EastSide, Lofish, and PodNoise studios in New York City, engineered by Marc Urselli, MP Kuo, and Reed Taylor. The album was mixed at Harariville at Hoboken, NJ by Rob Harari, and mastered at True Sonix, NYC by Nick Prout. The recording was made between August 2014 and August 2015.​

The digital illustration for the cover, by Ina Regisford, captures the timeless character of Guru Vasist, with elements of the ancient Indian sage Vasist playing a futuristic guitar-like instrument. Font design is by Richard Mantel.
